Baja 2014

January 10th was our departure date from San Diego.  We are traveling with the Baja Winters Caravan.  John, Becky, Dustin and Debbie were our wagon masters.  Jan. to mid March will be my story...enjoy...

Prior to departure, we purchased travel cards.  This is the first for Ed and myself.  We have been driving to Mexico for 20 years; travel cards are new to us.

After leaving San Diego, we drove windy back roads to Tecate, the border town east of San Diego.

I do believe...Santa and Mrs Claus were a part of the Caravan.  "I will be nice"

The border crossing was a nightmare.  Some units were checked, which held up the rest of the caravan.  This was another first for us.  We use to drive through without stopping.

Welcome to wine country.

Endless vineyards.

Ed is in his Happy Place.

Wine tasting.  Actually, the prices are the same as Napa Valley, CA.  The wines in Mexico are very good, the families take pride in their work.

Our first night, Estero Beach, Ensenada, BC. A beautiful sunset.

Sunrise at Estero Beach.

Sad for the dogs and cats in Mexico.  This fellow was in the middle of no where.

We stopped for a break.  Empenadas are great.

I took this picture of Becky taking a picture of us.

A New Adventure (The Baja, Mexico)

Ed and I had a wonderful summer sailing the Gulf Islands. We enjoyed visits with family and friends.

We put One Fine Day to bed for the winter, we headed east to pick up the bus from Woodrow RV Resort for our travels south.

Diana is giving riding lessons to a young teen.

Yes, Charlie and Annie are always eager to play.

Annie can't get enough of Ed.  Pretty big lap dog.

Playing in the Arizona Desert, on our way to Oatman, AZ.

This burro knew I had carrots.  It didn't leave me until I gave in.

There are many mine shafts around this old town.

Goodbye Oatman and Route 66.

Jenny and Matty, our two youngest, joined us in Las Vegas, NV for Christmas; we had a wonderful time.

Brilliant blue in the desert, on our way to Lake Havasu City, AZ.

A  wonderful sunset at the State Park in Lake Havasu City, AZ

Another sunset on the Pacific Ocean, at Carlsbad State Park, CA.

Princess Louisa Inlet, B.C.

Robin took this picture of us after leaving Egmont.  We are heading to Princess Louisa Inlet, off of Jervis Inlet.

The Park sign.

Boats are waiting for slack tide, outside Malibou Rapids,

Slack tide and we line up to enter.  The passage is quite narrow.

Once through the rapids, the Inlet seems like another world.

The race is on to the Provincial Docks.
Space is limited.  Some boats anchor and stern tie around the Inlet; more privacy I guess.

Ed made pizzas on this beautiful evening.  It was fun having dinner on the dock with Robin and Jim.

Robin took this picture after a hike.  She called it the 4 musketeers  Princess Louisa Inlet was a beautiful place to see.  Can't wait to return..
