The Journey North

Let the" panic" begin.  We decided to leave Los Barriles on our own.

We decided to stop on the highway to let the big rigs and buses by; it was safer.

I am looking out at the switchbacks, for on coming rigs.

Check out the width of this truck.  His red flag is over the yellow line.

We see the sea at one curve.

The valley at the end of it.

These trucks scare the dickens out of me...

The desert is starting to bloom.

The Bay of Conception, heading north to Santaspak.

Sunset, looking west over the hills from Santaspak.  The colors were breathtaking.

One of many pets begging for food.  This was a nursing mom, she wined at the door after Ed left, I couldn't resist.

Lonely road.

Heading north.

Spring desert greens.

This kitty is pregnant.  How sad.

We were stopped by the Federalies.  I wanted to take a picture of them inspecting the bus, but I was accompanied while outside.  So, I took this picture instead.

Swiss design?

Go slow through town.

I was happy to stay behind this truck.

Typical Mexican drivers.  Do you think they are impatient?

Rain makes a mess.

 Ensenada, south of Tijuana.

Entering Tijuana, the border patrol on the US side.

Getting ready for the border kayos.

After many wrong turns and U-turns, we made it to the semi line up to the border.

In line......Tijuana...  It took 2 hours to get through,  The inspection took another hour.  Very happy to cross to the US.  The Baja vacation was uneventful and safe. The locals were friendly and English speaking.  I was sorry that my Spanish wasn't that great.

More Baja before heading North.

I was so pleased to find out the Woodrows were in Cabo San Lucas.  It was great to see Darlene, Linda and grown up Tootie

Yes, enjoying another margarita.

We do enjoy fine dining, but street venders are our favorite, and the way to enjoy true Mexico.

Tropic of Cancer is on Baja 1, is between Los Barriles and San Jose.  We spent time to explore the area.

The Tropic of Cancer is the same latitude as Brownsville Texas and Key West Florida.

The attraction is quite impressive.

Caution signs! (Danger)

Part of the road collapses.

A lonely back road o La Paz, north of Los Barriles.

The ferry travels from Mazatlan, mainland Mexico to La Paz, Baja.

Small isolated coves everywhere.

Sailboat friendly coves.  We are very excited.  One Fine Day will make the journey one day.

Beach and Palapas are welcoming.

The erosion on the rocks are from the storms.

Golf Course in the desert, 1/2 km from the water.

The multiple colors of the sea are beautiful.

Los Barriles

The final destination; Playa Norte, Los Barriles on the Sea of Cortes.

Los Barriles is well known for kite surfing and kite boarding.
Sunrise is as beautiful as sunset.

The bus took on the light like a mirror.

The colors change as the sun rises higher in the sky.

The morning is the best time to paddle board, as the wind increases later in the morning. This boarder is with her dog.

Modified vehicles are everywhere on the beach.  If it works, why not.

Flowering vines line entrances to homes.

Inuksuk on the beach.

Cattle heading home after a day on the beach.

Lazy Daze..what a great place for margaritas and good food.

I had a lite beer after I saw Rexy pour Ed's margarita.

No sunset on the Sea of Cortes, just moon rising; it is equally as beautiful as the sunset.
Kathy and Hance.  What an amazing mother and son.  Kathy is a teacher and is home schooling Hance.  She has been  traveling Canada and the US prior to joining the caravan in January.  Kathy drove a Class C with a tow vehicle,                        " by herself on the "Baja No 1"  I need not say more.

Hance with a virgin margarita.  He loves the glasses.

Santa and Mrs Clause (Bruce and Sue) walking their 2 of 3 dogs...Buddy on the right is still limping on the broken leg.

Dave took me for a ride on his Quad.

The Mexican Government have a program to protect the sea turtle.  Unfortunately, these 2 were late to hatch...The employee told us that they wouldn't survive.  Sad!

We didn't have to go to the Farmers Market on Saturday; the market came to us.  How great is that.
An Infinity pool at a hotel we visited in Los Baririles.

Pool pop at the swim up bar.
Six of us took a road trip up the coast.  Diego Dave led the way, what a great guide.

Liz and Ricci.

The rock dwarfs the jeep.

Terry and Ricci walking the beach.

Shore fishing.

Actually, shore fishing was a skunk.  We hooked the line on the rocks; Diego Dave to the rescue.  He  swam out to save the lure.  We had so much fun with Dave.

Ricci found this coral washed up on the beach.  She put it against Ed's back to show the size.

More locals.

Ed and I enjoyed pulling off the road to absorb the beauty.

The turkey vultures on Ed's bike route; they greeted him every day.

Eds bike route, 40 to 45 km a day.

This is the stairway up to a monument.  Candles are always lit.

Need I say more!

Our last night in Los Barriles.  Drinks at Lazy Daze, what a wonderful group of people.
