We arrived in Hiva Oa on April 23rd, it was a short sail from Fatu Hiva. Another beautiful, lush island,. |
Beautiful bushes growing wild.
The trip to town was quite a way, sometimes we would hitch hike. Locals were very friendly, they didn’t hesitate picking us up.
One Fine Day in the background.
We had to leave Hiva Oa as we arrived too early in French Polynesia. Instead of purchasing a bond, we chose to buy return tickets. Unfortunately, the tickets were for August 2nd, We tried to register April 24th; French Polynesia permits 3 months. We had to leave the country for 8 days...wink, wink.
We left Hiva Oa with Koza. They were denied entry. Unfortunately, the French and Turks don’t get along; that’s what we were told. Koza paid an agent big bucks to have everything in order when they arrived; but were misled. They left for Tahiti that evening to get everything straightened out. When Koza arrived in Tahiti they were told they had 2 weeks to leave Polynesia. Very sad story.
Koza and One Fine day sailed to Vaitahu. It was a beautiful anchorage. We met so many boater as reuniting with fellow puddle jumpers. |
Very few boats anchored at this bay. The beach was desolate.
These boats left the anchorage early evening for a crossing. |
Conor from Sea Casa was out paddle boarding. I took this photo after talking with him. Great background.
Cindy from Cool Change, and Rick behind the post. We had a pot luck with 3 other boats. |
Rick, Cool Change.
We’re heading back to Hiva Oa to check in. We enjoyed the anchorage so much that a return visit was in order.
Return to the gendarmes in Atuona, crossing fingers.
We got the all clear. We, bought some groceries and headed back to the boat.
One Fine Day to the left.
Before leaving the anchorage, we stocked up on French baguettes; the best in the world.
Another happy hour on One Fine Day.
